Identifying features:
This wildflower is seen from April to September usually near the coastal regions
Small white flower with 4 petals and simple leaves that can have a grey tint to them.
The flowers form compact bunches of ground cover.
Family - Brassicaceae
Note: I find it fascinating that this small plant has thrived freely here for over 200 years and still isn't considered native. I need to discover how long something must exist to be classified as native.
I just checked, and there appear to be three categories.
Native - naturally growing in a location without human involvement, typically for thousands of years
Naturalised refers to a species that humans introduced to a location, but which now thrives independently in the wild. It has successfully established itself by reproducing and surviving without human assistance.
Invasive - originating from outside the area and currently causing ecological damage to native species.
